Ciao, happy tummies! Our next food stop? Kettner Exchange! A visit to this placeis like hitting to three birds with one stone. You can experience both Thai and Italian flavors while in San Diego.
This exquisite beauty stands grand in one of the corners of Kettner Boulevard, San Diego, California. It houses a salvaged tree branch chandelier which is viewed by every diner with astonishment, a louge-like rooftop with private cabanas, and a swinging daybed. Kettner Exchange is glamour at its best!
The Stunner on its exterior. And one said, when you see the KEX signage, you you are in Kettner exchange.
The upper level dining area. There is a portion of the eye-catching salvaged tree branch chandelier.
At the second floor of the dining area perfect for a close and intimate dining.
The swinging daybed where one may roost after a plateful of delights.
After having indulged in the grandness of the place, its time to satiate our revolting taste buds. Here are some of my Kettner’s favorites.
Absolutely heaven! The taste is deliciously indescribable and I can safely attribute it to the light dressing and the golden raisins. The sweet-sour and a little bland after-taste are just so unforgettable to buds.
I did not, of course, let go off the experience without including in it my favorite seadelight. The treat was a blast with the little spicy kick that accompanied the well-cooked shrimp. What is quite regrettable is the small size of each serving. I hope the next drop in this place, the serving would justify the price.
This is one I would not regret. The tuna flakes were minced to my liking. It smells good and healthy. The mixture of condiments revealed a little spice. One serving alone can be a congenial treat to a hungry tummy.
LUSCIOUS. I can have a dozen of this without throwing up. When first served, it was a disappointment. I have this attitude of judging desserts on how they are presented to the diners. I love desserts that are more loud and showy, decorative and stylish. But when guided on how to enjoy Vin De Syrah, I was left half mouth open. My experience with this is a great disappointment turned to a wonderful surprise. The milk, the ice cream, the chocolate, the caramel and the nuts, I think, are good sources of surprises.
I had just a few Kettner Exchange because it is quite costly. But if I were to be asked whether KEX and I would still a second chance, my answer would be a resounding YES. The entire experience was, indeed, stunningly worth keeping and worth repeating.
I really fell in love with the place, with the treats, and with the people. The staffs are evidently astute not only with respect to their assigned stations but with respect to the entire KEX.
Overall, I am giving Kettner Exchange a resounding round of applause!
